My Honest Review of Kajabi for Small Business Owners

kajabi Mar 26, 2019

So - you're thinking about switching everything over to Kajabi, but aren't sure if it's worth the hefty monthly price tag.

I totally get it. In fact, a few months ago I was sitting in that same place - filled with skepticism and not sure if I was ready to commit.

So, let me walk you through how I made the jump and then my thoughts since switching everything over.

Why I Moved EVERYTHING to Kajabi

At the time I made the switch to Kajabi, I was paying for:

  • Squarespace and GSuite at $31/month
  • Active Campaign at $29/month

I was about to add:

  • Teachable at $79/month to house my courses
  • Clickfunnels for over $100/month in order to create landing pages optimized for sales

In total, I was looking at around $240/month. PLUS...all the time it would take to integrate all of those platforms and figure out how to make them work together.

So - when my coach offered us a code to grab a discounted rate at Kajabi and test it out for one month - I jumped on the opportunity. I've stuck with it since my trial and will say with complete honesty, I am more than pleased with the experience!

Review of Kajabi: The Good

1- It's super easy!

The ease of using Kajabi is comparable to that of Squarespace. It's basically a drag and drop platform that can be navigated through easily. This is one of the easier platforms I've learned and had my website up in just a few hours. Not to mention, Kajabi has tons of videos to walk you through everything and phenomenal customer support base - so it's totally doable, even for newbies.

2-Having everything in one place.

I can NOT stress how much I love having everything in one place and connected. It is so simple to have passive products or memberships in Kajabi since it grants immediate access to anyone who makes a purchase. I also love being able to house all of the landing pages I create in my actual website so that I can easily link them to my navigation bar when needed.

3-It saves money.

In order to be able to do everything I wanted to do, I am actually saving money by using Kajabi. This was the real no brainer for me. Additionally, I knew that in the future, I would want the ability to have multiple trainings, offers, and products. I was thinking about my business a few years from now and realized that it would be way easier to move things over NOW, than later on when I was "ready". By then, I would have had so much more content to switch over.

4-Their people are amazing.

Kajabi has great support and tons of training for all different pieces of your business. It is unlike any other platform out there in this regard!

The Bad

I told you I was going to give you an honest here goes!

1-The site isn't as customizable as other platforms.

I think that this will change as they grow, but Kajabi's templates are a little less customizable than other platforms like Squarespace or Wordpress. Additionally, there aren't many companies that make pre-designed templates, so you really do need to stick with what they give you. However, the templates are sleek, clean and simple to it isn't a total negative.

2-I liked the visual layout of Active Campaign's automation better.

Creating an automation in Kajabi is SUPER easy. However, I loved how Active Campaign had it visually laid out for you. Kajabi doesn't offer that, but they do make up for it with their Pipelines (their funnels). They make it easy to view your automated funnels, but I would love to see the other automations laid out visually as well.

3-Their SEO isn't as strong as Wordpress.

Honestly, I am not sure there are any platforms that have SEO down quite like Wordpress, but Kajabi's aren't as sophisticated. They also don't have the detailed analytics I had in Squarespace in terms of users. However, they do have killer analytics on conversions from your products, pipelines and marketing efforts.

The Ugly

Okay, there isn't that much ugly when it comes to Kajabi, but I was adamant about switching things over myself. So, the worst part of my switch was that I had to do all of it manually. That meant every blog post and podcast show notes post had to be transferred. Because of that, I lost some Pinterest traffic, as the domains and URL's don't transfer over perfectly. If you are newer to biz, this won't matter much. If you can afford to have someone transfer it for you - DO! I would have spent that money GLADLY had I known how tedious that process was!

Who should make the switch to Kajabi?

I think switching to Kajabi is a no brainer for MOST online business owners.

  • If you are someone who is paying for multiple different platforms, then you should consider switching.
  • If you are someone who wants to house courses, a membership (hey there fitness pros), and content, you should consider switching.
  • If you are someone who likes the ease of housing everything in one place and with one nice, neat monthly payment, you should make the switch.
  • If you want to be able to manage your website and content easily, without relying on a developer, you should make the switch.

If people like Amy Porterfield, James Wedmore, Chalene Johnson, Cassie Ho, and Brendan Burchard can trust Kajabi for their biz...most of the rest of us can too!

Depending on the plan you choose, you will be able to house your

  • Website
